As group vice president of Human Resources, Mary Humiston has global responsibility for Applied Materials’ strategic human resources practices, policies and operations.
A member of Applied Materials’ senior leadership team, Humiston plays a critical role in an organizational transformation that requires the company to attract, retain and inspire the best possible talent around the world. To this end, Humiston is building a world class HR organization to deliver innovative, best-in-class solutions for talent and leadership development, global staffing and rewards and HR Operations across the company’s four business segments that span 92 locations in 23 countries. Leading Applied Materials’ global HR organization since June 2009, Humiston and her team focus on delivering tangible value to employees and managers while driving business results and growth.
Humiston started her career with Applied Materials as corporate vice president of HR for the company’s Energy and Environmental Solutions group and the Display SunFab Solar group from June 2008 to June 2009.
Prior to joining Applied Materials, Humiston was a vice president of HR at Honeywell International with responsibility for various corporate and international organizations and held executive positions with PeoplePC (now Earthlink) and Gap, Inc. She began her career at the General Electric Company in the HR Leadership Program and spent three years in Finance on the company’s Corporate Audit Staff.
Humiston is from upstate New York, and has lived in both Asia and Europe. Humiston earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology at Siena College and an MBA and master of science degree in industrial psychology from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
