Manfred Kerschbaum

Manfred Kerschbaum is a senior vice president and chief of staff for Applied Materials, Inc. where he is responsible for helping to drive the company’s business strategy around the world as well as enhancing the overall effectiveness of the senior leadership team.
Previous to this, from January 2005 to September 2009, Mr. Kerschbaum was senior vice president and general manager of Applied Global Services (AGS), the company’s service business. In this role, he made significant inroads in expanding the company’s service product portfolio and creating integrated solutions for customers.
Mr. Kerschbaum began his career at Applied Materials in 1983 as a process engineer in Munich, Germany. While in Europe, his career progressed to manager of Customer Service for Europe and director of Chemical Vapor Deposition and Etch Technology Europe.
In 1993 Mr. Kerschbaum moved to the U.S., taking on the role of director of Etch Business Operations. Since his move to the U.S. he has held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility, including general manager of the Texas Instruments Global Account Team, president of Applied Materials North America, and general manager of Applied Materials Operations.
Prior to joining Applied Materials, Mr. Kerschbaum served in process development and pilot production at Siemens Semiconductor.
Mr. Kerschbaum has a degree in physics from the University of Applied Sciences in Munich, Germany.
