Joseph Flanagan

Worldwide Operations and Supply Chain
Applied Materials, Inc.

Joseph Flanagan is senior vice president of Worldwide Operations and Supply Chain at Applied Materials, Inc., responsible for developing and executing an integrated supply chain strategy that enhances enterprise value across all of the company’s businesses. In this role, Flanagan reports directly to Applied Materials chairman and CEO Mike Splinter, and oversees end-to-end supply chain and operations functions across the company.

Flanagan brings many years of experience in global operations management to Applied Materials. He previously was president of Nortel Business Services for Nortel Networks from August 2009 to February 2010, where he was responsible for the full operational needs of Nortel businesses as they transitioned to other entities. Prior to this, he served as senior vice president of Global Operations where he managed supply chain, sourcing, services delivery, and technical and product support on a global basis. In this capacity, Flanagan was responsible for an organization of more than 9,000 employees around the world and three operating joint ventures located in China.

Previously, Flanagan served most of his career working for General Electric (GE) where he most recently was general manager of the organization’s Power Controls Division with full P&L responsibility. Prior to this, he held a number of positions including general manager, operations, GE Consumer and Industrial EMEA; general manager, mergers and acquisitions, GE Digital Energy; and general manager, Global Industrial Controls Division. Prior to GE, Flanagan served as manager of business development in Europe for Applied Materials.

Flanagan holds a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
